PRESIDENT KOCHARIAN MEETS WITH FOREIGN DIPLOMATS

• President Kocharian met today with the heads of the missions of the European Union member states as well as a delegation of the European Commission.

  Kocharian called the cooperation with the European Union and its member countries fruitful. He said Armenia’s inclusion in the New Neighborhood Policy was a progress in Armenia’s relations with the Union and said he hoped the talks will soon conclude. “The package Armenia has proposed indicates we are serious in this issue,” Kocharian said.

  Kocharian also briefed the European diplomats on the Karabakh settlement process, as well as other issues including Armenia’s relations with its neighbors.

  The European envoys said the meeting was interesting and useful.

• 1933  Birth of Dr. Karlen Karamian in Yerevan. He was a civil engineer.
• 1976  Yervand Kochar is awarded the title of Peoples' Artist of the USSR.
• 1990  Start of the massacres and expulsion of 200000 Armenians in Baku by forces of the Baku-Moscow axis.
