AGGRESSIVE STATEMENTS DO NOT CONTRIBUTE TO SETTLEMENT
- Vahan Hovhannisian, National Assembly vice-speaker and member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Bureau, told a news conference on Tuesday that the final settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict in 2006 is “unrealistic” due to Azerbaijani government’s aggressive stance.

He indicated that Armenia and the international community are inclined to find a peaceful settlement to the conflict while Azerbaijan replies with aggressive statements. “Azerbaijani authorities appear to be in a closed circle, and they are not able to break it relying only on themselves and political courage,” Hovhannisian said, adding that today’s position fueled by Turkey do not contribute to creating a positive environment.
Taking a question from Yerkir regarding the developments in Javakhk, Hovhannisian noted that there is a group of people in Armenia who sees a conspiracy in everything that is related to Javakhk. “We see the developments in the following aspect: respecting the human rights in Javakhk, development of Javakhk population’s political and social development. There is no issue of Georgia’s territorial integrity in Javakhk currently.”
He also added that there are external forces, however, who want to escalate the fragile situation in Javakhk and therefore the issue will be under focus in the future too.
