URUGUAY ADOPTS STATEMENT ON ARMENIAN-TURKISH RELATIONS

The House of Representatives of the Uruguay Parliament issued a statement on October 26 on the Armenian-Turkish relations, Noyan Tapan reported.
The statement reads in parts: “Taking into account this parliament’s contribution to the recognitin of the Armenian Genocide, as well as its willingness to facilitate the rapprochement of the Armenian and Turkish nations, the House of Representatives of the Uruguay Legislative Body is joining with the United Sates and the European Union in calling on Turkey to stop the blockade of Armenia and establish diplomatic relations with it.”
Lilian Keshishian, the first ethnic Armenian member of the Uruguay Parliament, who had an active role in this process, is set to visit Armenia in two weeks to participate in the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Armenian Parliament.
