NEW STATE BUDGET PROVIDES MORE MONEY FOR MILITARY
The 2006 Armenian state budget will provide more money for military, Defense Minister Serzh Sargsian said on Tuesday emerging from a confidential joint meeting of several National Assembly committees.
He also indicated that the army would acquire additional modern hardware in 2006. Taking a question on his upcoming trip to the United States, Sargsian said it would boost the US-Armenian relations without undermining Armenia's ties with Russia.
Speaking of the constitutional referendum due in November, he said he is confident the Armenian people will go to the polling stations and vote "yes" to the amendments.
