SYSTEM OF A DOWN ASKS HASTERT TO SCHEDULE VOTE ON ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RESOLUTIONS

Members of the renowned rock group System of a Down visited the office of U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert on Tuesday to ask him keep his commitment to hold a vote on the pending Armenian Genocide legislation.
As reported by Yerkir Media TV, following a rally organized by the band, Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA ), the Armenian Youth Federation and other organizations, the organizers handed letters of the American Armenian community members to Hastert requesting a vote on the Armenian Genocide resolutions.
System of a Down’s four band members - Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian and John Dolmayan – are of Armenian descent and have made awareness of the genocide, and genocide around the world, a central message of the band. All have lost family members to the Armenian Genocide.
In a telephone interview with Yerkir Media TV on Wednesday, Serj Tankian said, "We are in Chicago now, outside Hastert's office. We have decided to jointly present our demand -- pass the Armenian Genocide resolutions."
