CONSTITUTIONAL REFERENDUM MORE IMPORTANT THAN CONFRONTATION BETWEEN AUTHORITIES AND OPPOSITION, RUSTAMIAN SAYS
- Armen Rustamian, Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Supreme Body of Armenia representative and chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Relations Committee, held a news conference on Thursday to bring up issues of importance to the country.

Speaking of the recent passage of the Armenian Genocide resolutions in the U.S. House International Relations Committee and the State Department's reaction, Rustamian said the legislations enjoy vast support among the members of the Congress and despite the White House resistant, the House would vote to pass them once they are scheduled for vote.
Regarding the Nagorno Karabakh settlement, Rustamian indicated that the Armenian leadership endorses a solution that is based on three principles: Nagorno Karabakh cannot be under the Azerbaijani rule; it should have a common border with Armenia; and the security of the people of Karabakh should be guaranteed.
Rustamian also took questions in regard with the upcoming Constitutional amendments referendum, mentioning that the referendum is not the issue that should be discussed in the contest of other issues. "Our international image rests with the outcome of the referendum," he said. "We have to realize this. This is a more important issue than the confrontation between the authorities and the opposition."
