HEAD OF THE HELSINKI CITIZENS' ASSEMBLY VANADZOR OFFICE REFUTES NEWSPAPER REPORT
- Talking to Tert.am, Artur Sakunts, Head of the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor office, refuted the report by the Hraparak daily that the Vanadzor police department is trumping up a charge against him. "This is libel," he said. According to the newspaper, the authorities are not content with declaring Mr. Sakunts a "grant-eater," and the Vanadzor police department is now trumping up a charge of "false denunciation." Accusations of "grant-eating" against Artur Sakunts are not at all new. Karen Avagyan, an MP of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) recently accused Mr. Sakunts of "anti-army" activities. He particularly claimed that Mr. Sakunts is well paid for this.
