11 INJURED IN ARMENIAN ARMY BUS CRASH
A military bus carrying soldiers crashed in northern Armenia late Tuesday, seriously injuring at least eleven of its passengers, the Defense Ministry in Yerevan said on Wednesday. The ministry spokesman, Seyran Shahsuvarian, told RFE/RL that the accident occurred on a mountainous road near the town of Ijevan. He said the bus went off the road and flipped over near a local village close to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. According to Shahsuvarian, the injured soldiers were hospitalized and their life is not at risk. Still, he said one of them suffered a fractured skull and remained in a “grave” condition Wednesday. The official added that the military police have launched a criminal investigation into the accident.
