NEW ARMENIAN COALITION TAKES SHAPE
- Prime Minister and President-elect Serzh Sarkisian pledged to effect “serious changes” in Armenia on Friday as he formalized a power-sharing agreement with three major political parties that have recognized his victory in last month’s presidential election. Sarkisian and the leaders of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) and the Orinats Yerkir Party said their coalition government will strive to “deepen democratic reforms” in the country and speed up its economic development. A joint declaration signed by them laid out the main objectives of that government but said nothing about its composition. It remained unclear whom Sarkisian will appoint as prime minister after taking office on April 9. Artur Baghdasarian, the Orinats Yerkir Party leader, said discussions on the ministerial appointments are still going on. “These changes will be large-scale,” Sarkisian said at the signing ceremony, outlining his coalition cabinet’s agenda. “They will be painful for many, many people. And in order to be able to implement these changes in full, we need serious public support.” “We must strive to live up to the people’s expectations and create conditions for work, education and a prosperous life,” Gagik Tsarukian, the BHK leader, said for his part. The four-party declaration called for the strengthening of the rule of, freedom of speech and human rights protection, a “substantial increase in public trust in electoral processes,” and a “comprehensive and effective fight against corruption.” The Sarkisian-led coalition also committed itself to significantly boosting living standards in Armenia through job creation and improved business competition. The BHK and Dashnaktsutyun are already represented in Armenia’s current government, while Orinats Yerkir was in opposition to the country’s leadership until now. Baghdasarian was a major opposition candidate in the February 19 election and strongly criticized government policies during the election campaign. (Photolur photo)

I think the funniest one is Tsarukian. He is literally a mafia gang leader and a hooligan. He made his money by stealing and killing. I guess the best comparison we have is to compare him to Al Capone. He would be proud of hearing this !
Now imagine Al Capone being in a coalition government in the US!!!!!!!
That is EXACTLY what you see in this picture.
All of them "good fellows". :-)))

Levon, I concur in what you say and I will add the following:
What a SHAME for the party of tashnak to endorse and be part of
such a brutal authoritarian clan. The tashnak has been a revolutionary, radical political party with a rich history for fighting for independence, social democracy, human rights and values, dignity.
What the heck has happened to this party and its leaders? What sort
of deal they signed with this karabach bandit which made them forget
the values they fought and stood for and succumbed like amateur
little boys and girls. I believe that the tashnak eventually will
lose the tiny credibility and leverage it still enjoys among the
people of Armenia (its popularity has gone down the drain in the
election of feb. 19.'08).
Concerning bagdasarian, unfortunately he is the new upcoming young
coward who readily betrayed his supporters (quite a few 16%) and
joined forces with rk and ss who had called him traitor!!! couple
of years ago. There is very little you can say you can only despise
him, for such a fellow whose values and political belief are worth
nothing for him. I have no doubt that he will be kicked out and will
be treated the very same way he was treated two years ago, by the
governing authoritarian bandits. bagtasarian has no dignity left at
all and his forthcoming political collapse will be sudden and noisy.

You are right Philip,
I am not sure how long these guys will last. I mean, just look at them. They make me laugh. They are an embarassment by international standards.
There is no philosophy, ideology or any idea behind them. It is just a bunch of opportunists who gang up to conitnue stealing money.
Arthur: opportunist with no ideology. Pure ambition of the worse type. Will do ANYTHING for money and status. He proved it.
Dashnak: the party is too old and has no ideology anymore. They should renew themselves. No one takes them seriously anymore.
Dody Gago: He is literaly a hooligan. It is just amanzing. He is a party leader and an MP. Imagine a single second this guy talking to some representative of an international organization. It is a laugh.
Serj: enough said. He has commited crime against his nation.
So, it a small gang of opportunists with no ideology. I am not sure they can operate very long.
Anyway, people are in the streets again... chack out Youtube for recent vids.. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=o74OaxiPZN0- Philip Karayan

Khachatur Sukiasyan is the best from them.. He is a businessman who pay his taxes and who has his own ideology but not like other foxes!! They knew that hi is powerful enough to change many things and they afraid from him.. But he has enough miney to hire best lawyers and has enough connections in Russia and Europe to do his business outside and control some political things (even little) in Armenia...- Rafael

It is so sad that people like you have bad long term memories and do not remember where Armenia was during Levon's ruling and where it is now! When Levon kicked out every single investor including Kirk Kirkorian, Kocharyan welcomed every single one and today there are tens of Foreign companies like Synopsys and Lycos having branches in Armenia and employing 500+ employees each, paying $2000-$5000 per month, creating a new middle calss... and so on...
Armenia has come a long way. There is a whole lot to be done. What Levon did was unhealthy and worthy of the title "The Enemy of the State/People".

Then who is the leader that is clean and not corrupt? Who should've won?Name me one candidate who really deserved to be our president?
No one takes tashnags seriously? Well atleast 100,000 took them seriously, this is without mentioning the stolen votes. You can bash Tashnags as much as you want, they remain the cleanest of all, calling them a mafia, is just pure LTP propaganda, not fair.
With that said, i think a combination of Raffi Hovannesian and Vahan would've been a great thing, but too much power in hands of Robert and Serje (uncle Putin), so best luck for us next time around.
Note: i'm in now way a Serje or Robert fan, but neither LTP. Those three miserably failed, we need new blood.- Levon

Yes, true... maybe with the right conditions a real good leader will pop up. Lets hope that we will find a good leader.
As to the dashnaks, well there is nothing wrong with a party reforming itself. The dashnak party has been defending our people and history through key moments and we all respect them for that. But, they need some ideological adaptations and renewal. All modern parties renew themselves every 4 tp 10 years.- Harout

There are no politicians in this Earth with clean and good reputations, all of them are criminals and outlaws with lots of guts, but others don’t, that why the opposition side always creates confusion and use the negative minority collusions to get some kind of revelation or codetta in small countries….
Just ask your self …?! What kind of regime or government you know who reaches the power of supper power in history you know, today and will tomorrow? The answer will get you in one position work and be part of it…!!!

Arman, I cannot help but regret to tell you that you are talking nonsense. No one like Levon said is complimenting LTB. Try to understand and be objective, our fellow citizens were slaughtered by this governing cowards you know why? because unlike us who freely express ourselves, Armenians went to cry out for DEMOCRACY, TRANSPARENCY, PROSPECTS FOR A BETTER LIVING, SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE, CIVIL AND HUMAN RIGHTS, DIGNITY to mention few. The present regime is the worst similar to the stalin era, authoritarian government Armenia ever had. Unfortunately, before they disappear, I am afraid, they will do more to oppress and torture our fellow citizens. The worst, however, they might cause even a national tragedy. I sincerely hope not.
As to the monthly salaries you mention, not even in your wildest dreams.- Arman
