EXPOSITION DEDICATED TO 90TH ANNIVERSARY OF SMYRNA DISASTER AT AGMI
- A temporary exhibition dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Smyrna Disaster will open at the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute (AGMI) today, museum's press service told Panorama.am. The exhibition features documents, photos, postcards concerning the life of the Armenians of Smyrna as well as original photos, papers from AGMI collection, which present the fire of Smyrna, one of the major sea ports of Asia Minor, and Kemalist massacres of tens of thousands of Armenians and Greeks in September 1922.
After the opening of the exhibition, an academic session dedicated to Smyrna Disaster will take place in the museum's Komitas hall. AGMI director, Hayk Demoyan, Verzhine Svazlyan as well as AGMI researchers Tehmine Martoyan and Gevorg Vardanyan will deliver reports.

Today in Armenian history- 1854 The allies check the advance in Crimea during the Crimean War.
- 1915 Start of the battle of Mount Moossa (Sooetia, Western Armenia). The battle lasted forty days and resulted in the defeat of the Turkish forces sent to carry out the Genocide of the Armenians living there. Franz Werfel's novel ("The Forty Days of Moossa Dagh") is based on this event.
