CONGRESS MISSION SAYS SHORTCOMINGS HAD ORGANIZATIONAL COLORING
The representatives of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe say they assess the Yerevan City Council elections in line with the European standards, advanced and well improved compared with the local self-governing bodies elections of 2008. The Congress Mission of 15 observers managed to visit 200-230 polling stations yesterday; they participated in the calculation processes and concluded: The Congress Mission greets and expresses content that Armenia contributed to the establishment of democratic rules in the country. The observers say there have been some shortcomings which had organizational notion, they can have certain influence on the elections but they can not have any impact on the legitimacy of the elections. Those shortcomings will be recorded in their final report which should be published in autumn.
