CAREFULNESS NEEDED: THE PARLIAMENT SHOULD DISCUSS THE MATTER
This autumn is expected to be an active and dynamic political season. This was the key-statement in the conference of representatives of different Parliament fraction- Aram Safaryan from DAP, Artzvik Minasyan from ARF and Vardan Khachatryan from Inheritance party. Questioned if Armenian Parliament should call a special meeting concerning the recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the representative of Inheritance Vardan Khachatryan said carefulness is needed here, because now Russia is facing diplomatic isolation on Georgia crisis. Inheritance party is in favor of recognition of NKR independence, as it had presented a schedule concerning this problem in Parliament several months before. This would lead to a better position for Armenia in future. The representative of DAP Aram Safaryan emphasized the importance of Parliament meeting on more practical issues. Now the matter is more about general recognition of independence, and not here and now. The best thing for Armenia is that OSCE Minsk group makes Azerbaijan sign document of non-invasion so that to avoid further provocations from Azeri side. In case Azerbaijani party denies Minsk Groups proposal, Armenia will have grounds for activation of corresponding security measures, Safaryan added. The ARF party member Artzvik Minasyan practically agreed with his colleagues, but emphasized that Armenia should make some changes in its regional strategy and achieve the recognition of independence of NKR with the help of its allies.
