LOST YOUR LUGGAGE? STUDY THE LAW
Summer vacations again raised the eternal problems of lost baggage. Hundreds of people call Panorama.am office asking how they will get their lost cases and in what period of time air-agencies can return passengers luggage or compensate the loss. According to the press secretary of civil aviation agency Gayane Davtyan, every air-agency sets its own period during which the passengers luggage can be found or the loss compensated. Civil aviation agencys main function is monitoring and supervision over baggage searching and compensating actions of different air-agencies.In case the air- agency refuses to find the lost luggage or give compensation, the passenger can make a special application to civil aviation agency or even start a court trial against it.G. Davtyan refused to give further explanations on civil agancy monitoring and supervision functions and advised to study the corresponding laws if needed. However, panorama.am correspondent called several air-agencies and got different answers on the topic. In Visa Concord Travel they told panorama.am that the passenger has to make special application concerning luggage loss, and then the agency will search for the baggage during 21-day period. In case the luggage is not found, the agency will announce it lost and will compensate the harm in 28 days. Another agency Air-Arabia told panorama.am that it had set 25-day period for lost luggage search. If the baggage is not found, the company will give compensation during two months.
