BODIL BIRNS MEMORY IN ARMENIA

On 22 July by the initiative of Museum of Armenian Genocide memorial ceremony devoted to Norwegian missionary Bodil Birns, reported the Museum-Institute of Genocide. The ceremony will start with a film presentation called They called me mother, in Komitas hall. To take part in the ceremony the members of Bodil Birns family have also arrived in Armenia. A range of photo presentations is organized to be conducted covering the photos made by Bodil before the Genocide and after it. Bodil Birns was born in 1871 in Norway. In 1905 she has been sent to Ottoman Turkey. She has been the eye witness of Armenian Big genocide. Later in 1917 she returned back to Norway but did not stay there any longer. She opened an orphanage in Armenia. Bodil Birns died in 1960.
