PRESIDENT AT ACADEMICIAN
- On 30 April the president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan visited academician Sergey Hambarcumyan at his place. The president mentioned that some weeks ago National Academy of Sciences annual summit took place where they discussed the ways of developing scientific field in Armenia. He added that it is quite different to discuss them in a summit and in home atmosphere. Serzh Sargsyan said that he feels science has weak points but he needs some advice also. We really have problems in this aspect and we should choose the way to meet them, said he and added that he would like to hear the opinion of the famous academician on this regard. S. Hambarcumyan signified the fact that the president visited him after the summit to discuss those questions and not only them. The academician said that he was happy to talk with the President as he knows him for long time. He notified that when Serzh Sargsyan was the Defense Minister he supported the educational and scientific improvements. The president and the academician talked about the reforms which should be carried out in education and scientific fields. They do agree that it is very important to keep the level of education, science and in general culture as the global economic development is based on and predicted by intellects. They also talked about the perspectives of countrys development, the role of scientists in it.
