LEVON ARONYAN: “RAPID” CHAMPION

Before the Amber international chess competition ends the name of the champion is already known. The Armenian GM and the champion of Chorus Chess 2008 Levon Aronyan fixed his victory in the tenth round. In this round Armenian GM met with the Russian GM Vladimir Kramnik and both games finished in a draw. Thus Aronyan has already gained 13.5 scores and it means that even after the last eleventh game it will be impossible to left him behind. Aronyan is the leader in both parts of the tournament in rapid and blindfold. Now the competition should be led for the second horizontal. The following chess players have real chances to gain the second horizontal: Russian Kramnik, Bulgarian Topalov, Hungarian Leko and Norwegian Karlsen. All the four chess players have 11 scores on their account. Russian champion Kramnik will play with Sergey Kariakin, Hungarian GM with Armenian GM Aronyan, Magnus Karlsen will meet with Morozevich, and Bulgarian Topalov meets with Ukrainian Ivanchuk. The tournament started on 15 March and ends on 27. It is held in Nice, France.
