STATE OF EMERGENCY TERMS NOT EXTENDED
At the moment the president of Armenia is not intended to extend the time limits of the announced state of emergency. The information is provided by the press secretary of the president Viktor Soghomonyan. He said that from March 1 the term of the satte of emergency are not broken and for that he expressed his appreciations to the Armenians for respecting the rule. As for the different announcements and comments of some American officials, Soghomonyan said that Armenian authorities did everthing to protect people, to protect the Armenian democracy from the disruption. He also mentioned that the announcements and comments made by Bryza were really astonoshing as they did not correspond to the atmosphere when meeting with the president of the country. The press secretary said that before April 9, the ongoing president Robert Kocharyan will have a meeting with the journalists. To the question what the ongoing secretary will be doing after, he prefered to keep silence. He also refused to answer what will be done to neuterelize the ongoing disruption among the people, and offered to direct the question to the Prime Minister.

Today in Armenian history- 1863 The Sultan confirms the shortened version of the National Constitution of Western Armenians.
- 1863 Turkish government approves the 1860 05 24 "National Constitution" with severe restrictions and censorship.
- 1865 Birth of Manuk Abeghyan (linguist) in Astapat, Nakhichevan (Armenia). He died in 1944.
- 1872 Birth of Nathan Amirkhanian (Knyazev), composer, conductor, organist and teacher. He was a Director of the Odessa Opera and also organized Armenian Choirs in Baku.
- 1898 Russia's committee of Ministries decides to give Armenian school properties to the state authorities.
- 1922 Birth in Alexandropol (Gyoomree) of Sergey Hambardzoomian, mechanics scholar and academician. He was Vice-President of the Armenian Academy of Science, and Rector of Yerevan State University.
- 1962 Khojivank's Cemetery of Tbilisi, which had long since become a park by this time, was now to be called the Armenian Pantheon of Culture. Thirty four remains (Toomanian, Aghayan, Mooratsan, Jivany, Akhverdian, Oganezashvily and others) lie here. The first to be interred was the Great Komitas, who had died in a Paris asylum - after losing his mind on receivng the news of the 1915 Genocide.
