RA POLICE HEADQUARTERS SPEECH
On 1 March RA Police servicemen had problems with providing the social security of Yerevan. Taking into account the created situation, the staff was armed by plastic shields, helmets and rubber truncheons. We were carrying out our service duties in the streets within the daytime. In the evening we faced the problem to keep the social order in Mashtots avenue. It was important to stop the slaughterers to confiscate the avenue. From 19:30 to 20:00 we saw barricades with overturned buses. The staff should stop the action and disperse the slaughterers and they walked towards them. Getting near to the barricades Armenian soldiers were attacked by stones, special iron hedgehogs and fire-arm. I am a soldier of Armenians army and I could not imagine that an Armenian could shoot Armenian soldier. We had a number of injured and only after it was ordered to gun the soldiers. I myself talked with some behind the barricades in the wartime when we were protecting the boarders of our country. I am surprised what urged them to shoot me, my colleagues and the soldiers. Today I wish to send my words to them do not try to repeat the March First events. I would like to worn that police staff is very decisive and rude now, said Gegham Petrosyan in televised speech.
