EUROPEAN COMMISSION OPENS A REPRESENTATION OFFICE IN ARMENIA
Yesterday the new building of the European Commission representation opened in Armenia. The representation has a diplomatic status. Ambassador Raul de Luzenberger is in charge of the European Commission mission to Armenia. This event speaks about strengthened relations between Armenia and the European Union and deeper inclusion of Armenia into the European neighborhood policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, EU foreign relations chief commissioner, told an opening ceremony. She mentioned that since 2005 EU has had a regional office with a seat in Tbilisi. However, today separate offices are opened in all countries of South Caucasus. In the words of the commissioner, these offices will enable to engage in full cooperation with the international organizations and the country at the levels of state, public organizations and the media. Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan congratulated the Armenian and the European parties. Several years ago when we opened our representation building in Brussels, I said that a day will come that the relations with the European Union will reach to a desired level. I am sure that day will come. Just like that the generation will remember this day when we paved the ground for new relations with the EU, minister Oskanyan said.
