EU EXPECTS PROGRESS IN KARABAKH CONFLICT NEGOTIATIONS
''We do not stop hoping that we may report progress in Karabakh conflict negotiations,'' Peter Semneby, EU special representative in South Caucasus, told reporters today in Yerevan. He mentioned that works are under way on a diplomatic level and rendered his hope that they will yield results. Speaking about the possible effect of the presidential elections in Armenia and Azerbaijan, Semneby mentioned that they won't be an obstacle and will enable to attach importance to Karabakh conflict one more time. The special representative said that EU expects that the presidential elections in Armenia will pass in compliance with international standards. Speaking about the positive sides of the election period, he mentioned the fact that several candidates are running for the elections which will ensure multiple opinion. In the opinion of Semneby, it means higher public interest to the political processes which is again positive.
