EXPERT: NATURE PROTECTION PROBLEMS HAVE PUT THE SOCIETY IN DOUBT
Today a discussion was held in the National Library of Armenia under the heading ''Coverage of environmental problems in the Armenian media.'' ''Our society is very interested in environmental problems and with everything connected with it. Everybody understands that they may have negative impact on genetic composition,'' scientific research department head Haikanush Ghazaryan said. The library employees spoke about the environmental topics covered in the Armenian language and Russia language media from 2000-2007. First class specialist Aida Sargsyan presented some articles in the Russian language media. ''Such topics are mainly covered in ''Golos Armenii,'' ''Novoye Vremia,'' ''Delovoi Express,'' ''Sobesednik Armenii'' and other newspapers. They mainly write about animal and plant world,' she said. In the words of Sargsyan, the reporters mainly cover topics of global significance. Anahit Davtyan, library employee, spoke about environmental articles in the Armenian language media. She assured such topics were mainly raised by ''Hayots Ashkhar,'' ''Republic of Armenia,'' ''Yerkir,'' and ''Azg'' newspaper. She also said such topics have become extensively heard also at the National Assembly. At the end of the meeting, the participants mentioned that environmental problems have put the society into doubt. ''Is it better to have jobs and die from poisonous air or hunger?'' they raised the question.
