MERCOSUR PARLIAMENT RECOGNIZES ARMENIAN GENOCIDE
The deputies of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay approved November 19 earlier adopted decision of Human Rights Committee of the parliament on recognition of the Armenian genocide at the plenary session of MERCOSUR parliament held at Uruguay capital Montevideo, Armenian foreign relations media and information department informs. According to the source, the decision says in particular: The Parliament of Mercosur condemns the genocide committed by Ottoman Turkey from 1915-1923 which took the lives of one and half million people. The parliament expresses its support to the fair cause of the Armenian people. The parliament also appeals to governments and parliaments, which have not recognized and condemned the Armenian genocide, to adopt similar decisions. MERCOSUR is one of the biggest organizations of the South America established in 1986. Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela are among the organization. The associated members of the organization are Chili, Bolivia, Columbia, Ecuador and Peru.
