CONGRESSMEN REQUEST IN WRITING NOT TO PUT RESOLUTION 106 ON VOTE
Passions become heated around Resolution 106 in the U.S. Congress and generally among countries that are somehow connected with this resolution. Further developments become unpredictable. As a result, it may be possible that the formal draft resolution condemning the Armenian genocide may not be put under vote on November 16 and may be postponed on an indefinite time. The thing is that 49 U.S. Democrats and Republicans have applied to the Speaker of U.S. House Nancy Pelosi in writing with a request not to put the resolution on vote. Concurrently, as Los Angeles Times reports, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who met with Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan two days ago, has said in the media that he is trying to make Congress leaders understand that the if the Armenian bill passes, that will make an unrecoverable damage on Turkish-American relations. We must remind that U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made a speech on October 14 at the American ABC channel greeting the passage of Resolution 106 by the foreign relations commission of the House. She said that USA will try to become the 24th country calling the mass murders of Armenians genocide.
