DASHNAKSUTIUN OFFICE HEAD HAS GREAT HOPES: RESOLUTION MAY BE ADOPTED
Kiro Manoyan, the responsible person of Armenian Cause Office of Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaksutiun) Bureau, expects that Resolution 106 on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide will be included in the agenda of U.S. House of Representatives despite of the opposition by Turkish authorities. Manoyan announced about his expectations in a press conference today. The president, foreign minister and prime minister of Turkey have urged U.S. government to prevent the inclusion of the resolution in the agenda of U.S. House since it will harm American-Turkish military relations. Manoyan believes the threats voiced by Turkey indicate that it does not go any further than the threats. ''Time has shown that after the adoption of the resolution in relation to other countries, Turkey has taken the position of the ''hurt party.'' It has taken some steps but after a short while everything recovered,'' Manoyan said. ''Nothing can be improved that does not exist,'' the head of Dashnaksutiun Armenian Cause Office said, adding that pressures must be made on Turkey, under these conditions, to recognize the Armenian genocide. The speaker also noted that the American political figures, and particularly, the candidates for president, will try to practically show their sympathy with the Armenian voters in relation with the presidential elections in the USA, that is, they will adopt the resolution.
