DIGITALIZATION A PRIORITY PROBLEM FOR NATIONAL ARCHIVE
Digitalization is a priority problem for the National Archive today. Starting next year, we will start digitalization of documentary films, Amatuni Virabyan, director of National Archives, told a news conference today. He mentioned that the archive is negotiating with French and German companies to get hold of equipment necessary for the digitalization. Speaking about destroyed documents, the director said that the archive is never consciously destroyed. The documents were destroyed during the years of the first republic since there was a shortage of paper. According to law, the archive is transported to dwellments far away from the battle front. They were transported to North Caucasus from Yerevan and many documents disappeared on the way,'' Virabyan said.
