MORE THEFTS COMMITTED IN 2006
Six hundred forty eight more cases of theft were reported in the year 2006. Organized crime and cases when a person with criminal record or when a criminal group has stayed out of the sight of the police make up the majority of cases, Mnatsakan Sargsyan, deputy prosecutor general of Armenia told a board session while reporting on crime against personal property and on registered faults. The criminal activities of several groups have been suspended, however, Sargsyan mentioned that the prosecutor supervision has often overlooked criminal groups and has not registered the real causes. He also said officials guilty in idleness or for covering the cases have not been detected.
