THE TREATY OF SEVRES IS STILL IN FORCE

Armenian-Russian border must be restored as per the Treaty of Sevres, told former ambassador of Armenia to Canada, historian and orientalist, Ara Papyan, at todays press conference. In his words, the above treaty was signed in times of Ottoman Empire and Armenian legal authorities, however, since Armenia discontinued to be an international subject as from 1920, it couldnt receive the territories due by the verdict. According to A. Papyan, today Armenia should do everything to restore the territories mentioned in the Treaty of Sevres, since the latter is now in force. To the question regarding the opportunities the territories restoration could afford, A. Papyan replied that it would allow settling the problems arising in our country. In his words, more distant the Turkish troops are more security guarantees we have. It will give us an opportunity to disblockade Armenia, that is, the all borders will be opened
