“DEMOCRACY AND LABOR” TO FOLLOW ITS OWN WAY
““Democracy and Labor” party intends to participate in parliamentary elections 2007 on its own,” announced the head of the party Spartak Melikyan at the party congress today. “As the coalition and the opposition are equally interested in self-reproduction we intend to appear as a third loyal power,” he said. As the politician thinks the third power is called to dissolve the deadlock situation in the country as the government is unable to govern the country as necessary, and the opposition cannot carry out its responsibilities properly.
“After latest parliamentary elections the opposition had one single aim – to draw people out by revolutionary appeals and use them in their interests. The oppositional parties represented to the parliament were unable to appear with legislative initiatives which would improve the social-economic situation, more over, they agreed with high salaries and other deputy privileges,” he said.
The party leader emphasized that participation in elections is not an end in itself for them. The party is going to struggle for the interests of businessmen in the NA. The development of small and average business can indirectly influence on Karabakh conflict regulation, Spartak Melikyan thinks, as “the problem has long ago shifted from political to economic field.” In addition, the party upholds the foreign policy of complementarism chosen by present government.
