GEORGIAN FRONTIER FORCES OCCUPY ARMENIAN LANDS?

Georgian frontier forces which invaded the territory of Bavra village (Shirak region) prevent rural population from carrying out agricultural work, village community governor Koryun Sumbulyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. “Back in May, Georgian frontier forces invaded our village, not allowing villagers to use its lands. They have taken control over a territory with a total area of 130 hectares,” Sumbulyan said, adding that Georgian frontier guards claim the territory belong to Georgia. “We applied to RA Foreign Affairs and Territorial Administration Ministries. They informed us that rural population was entitled to make use of those lands. However, Armenian frontier forces say territories are disputable, hence villagers are not allowed to use them,” village governor said. As mentioned by Koryun Sumbulyan, villagers had authorization to occupy the land, but Georgian frontier guards do not absolutely consider their documents. Tomorrow, village community governor will meet with RA Vice Premier and representatives from Territorial Administration Ministry to clarify existing situation. The only information reported by RA MFA is that Ministry is aware of the incidents and such problems arise only in areas where Armenian-Georgian border demarcation is disputable.
