PUTIN: KARABAKH TALKS SHOULD CONTINUE IN OSCE MG FRAMEWORK

At a meeting with Russia's outgoing President Vladimir Putin, Armenia's President-elect and Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan voiced hope that assuming the presidential office, Dmitry Medvedev will work for development of the Armenian-Russian strategic partnership established under the presidency of Vladimir Putin and Robert Kocharian. "Armenia and Russia enjoy high level relations and centuries-long friendship. Our country will proceed with the policy of expansion and deepening cooperation with Russia," Mr Sargsyan said. The top officials referred to the post-election situation in Armenia. "The Armenian authorities will undertake measures essential for establishment of stability and tolerance," the RA PM said. Mr Putin and Mr Sargsyan also referred to a wide scope of military, economic and political issues, including the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. "Karabakh talks should continue in the OSCE Minsk Group framework," the Russian President remarked. He confirmed support of the Russian authorities and voiced assurance that the President-elect will resolve the existing problems in the shortest terms. For his part, Mr Sargsyan thanked the Russian President for a warm welcome and noted that the meeting will be an advance in the Armenian-Russian cooperation, the RA government's press office reported.
