SERGEI MIRONOV: RUSSIA SHOULD RECONSIDER STANCE ON UNRECOGNIZED TERRITORIES
- The Russian State Duma and Federation Council pass a statement on Kosovo, Federation Council Sergei Mironov said. “We call on supporters of Kosovo’s independence to think about negative consequences of the process. It’s infringement of international law and UN principles that took place. Our statement reflects the official position of our state,” he said, adding, “Russia should reconsider stance on unrecognized territories,” Lenta.ru reports. Kosovo proclaimed independence on February 17. Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica condemned it as a false state. He said Kosovo was propped up unlawfully by the United States which was "ready to violate the international order for its own military interests".
