MOSCOW: JURY ACQUITS ARTUR SARDARYAN MURDERERS
- The jury has acquitted those accused of the murder of 19-year-old ethnic Armenian Artur Sardaryan. “Today, nine of twelve jurors of the Moscow regional court concluded that the investigation failed to prove complicity of the accused in the murder,” said lawyer Simon Tsaturyan. “We did not expect such a decision. It shocked us,” he said adding that they will appeal the verdict, RIA Novosti reports. Artur Sardaryan, 19, was killed in Moscow by a group of skinheads on May 25, 2006. Before the very eyes of dozens of witnesses they stabbed a knife into his throat and chest six times. Earlier, despite the evidence of witnesses, the court had acquitted Roman Polusnyak accused of the murder. However, the Supreme Court cancelled the verdict of "not guilty" and brought the case before the Moscow regional court.
