BLACK SEA REGION NEVER EXISTED

There is no united Black Sea region, as a matter of fact, Director of the Caucasus Media Institute Alexander Iskandaryan said at Wider Black Sea: Perspectives for International and Regional Security conference in Yerevan. “The Black Sea region doesn’t exist. It’s not united either geographically or culturally or historically. The entire history of the region was the history of separation but not of consolidation,” he said. “It was the region of confrontation. “Presently, politicians attempt to form a unified region despite numerous economic projects basing on political interests.” “We can speak of commonness of languages and cultures but the future promises more and more discrepancies,” he resumed, Novosti Armenia reports.
