PUTIN: YEREVAN-MOSCOW RELATIONS FAR BEYOND MERELY ENERGY PROJECTS
In un informal atmosphere Presidents of Russia and Armenia Vladimir Putin and Robert Kocharian told journalists about Friday that lasted almost 5 hours. Media representatives were most of all interested in energy cooperation not only between Russia and Armenia, but also between Moscow and Kiev. In response Putin reported “our energy interaction (with Armenia) is correct and it fits the spirit of interstate relations.” He reminded that the stop price for a thousand cubic meters of gas in UK makes a thousand dollars, while Russia will supply flying carbohydrates to its western partners merely at $250 for a thousand cubic meters. Thereupon Putin said that in his opinion the future of the CIS depends on gas supplies. At the same time he remarked the question of prices is in the competence of managing subjects. “The future of the CIS depends on gas supplies, but it does not depend on prices,” the Russian President underscored. “The managing subjects hold talks: there are contracts, papers, talks, the process is under way,” he added. “The managing subjects engage in commerce, we do not,” Putin repeated. He reported that at the talks with Robert Kocharian they “mainly dealt with bilateral relations.” “The relations between Armenia and Russia go far beyond the limits of merely energy projects,” Putin remarked. “We interact in the political, humanitarian, military and technical fields. We have many ties in economy, besides energy. We spoke on all important questions,” he said. Mr. Kocharian said that the past year was “interesting and notable.” “Large projects are implemented. I consider large Russian investments into the Armenian economy have taken place,” he said. Answering journalists' questions, Mr. Putin said that the two leaders “did not touch upon the topic of “orange revolution” in Ukraine. “You might have read the revolution theory, when the leaders cannot, while the masses do not want. We do not have such things,” Putin remarked, reported ITAR-TASS.
