ARMENIAN POLITICAL PARTIES TO CONVENE FIRST ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS
YEREVAN. - European People's Party's (EPP) eastern partner countries' summit will get underway Tuesday in Batumi, Georgia, and Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and several other countries will attend the event, ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Vice Chairman and Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan stated during a press conference on Monday.
"Owing to foreign relations, the [political] parties are getting the opportunity to find and seek partners, by way of which it will be possible to voice and resolve Armenia's political problems," said Ashotyan.
He also noted that the RPA has a number of important directions in developing foreign relations.
"Our ties with the EPP are developing in all directions. The RPA youth chapter has applied for EPP membership, which will be discussed in fall," he stated.
Armen Ashotyan noted that the other important direction is developing inter-party relations within the CIS. He informed that the RPA and—Russia's ruling—United Russia Party will organize political discussions this fall in Armenia's capital, Yerevan. He also noted that talks are currently underway toward RPA delegation's visit to China, by the year's end, to place foundations for a new cooperation.
By the way, RPA Vice Chairman informed that Armenian political parties' first roundtable discussions will be convened in Nagorno-Karabakh Republic's capital, Stepanakert, on August 24-26, during which domestic and foreign policy issues will be examined.
