ARA GHAZARYAN: "THE DECISION OF THE COURT OF CASSATION WON'T RESIST THE TIME TEST"
- Pastinfo: The Court of Cassation of Armenia made a decision relating to the concepts of slander and insult which is destined to become a precedent. According to the deputy director of Arny Consulting law office, Ara Ghazaryan, the decision is good but it will hardly last in time. According to him, from the point of view of the laws, the decision may be comprehensible while from the point of the journalism it is not, since the Court defined proper and improper sources of information. The Court defines that if the press receives information from a rumor or gossip, it assumes the responsibility for it. According to Ghazaryan, though the decision of the court is positive, it is still dangerous since it limits the flow of information and the freedom of speech.
