NALBANDYAN SUMMED UP PAST YEAR
- The Foreign Minister of Armenia, Edward Nalbandyan, summed up the foreign policy of the past year on January 16 saying that it was orientated to strengthening the security of the country, the economic development of Armenia, protection of Armenian citizens abroad, deepening relations with the partners of Armenia. In 2011, the positions of Armenia and the international mediators on the Artsakh issue settlement became more harmonious. Nalbandyan noted that 2011 was also marked by strengthening of the Armenian-Russian strategic relations. According to him, the Armenian-American relations have risen to a new level, the Armenian and French relations deepened. Considerable progress was reported in the rapprochement with the European family. Relations with Iran and Georgia developed as well. Cooperation with China, India and Japan gained a new impetus. Despite Arab developments, steps were taken up to keep the current level of relations with the Arab countries.
