STRASBURG DOES NOT HARM FORT BOYARD

If the member of the Heritage party, the member of the Armenian delegation to PACE Zaruhi Postanjyan occupied Kirovabad or blockaded Baku alone, she would not be able to attract so much attention among the Armenian TV channels, as she did because of her activities in Strasburg. On June 25, Zaruhi Postanjyan was the “star” of the Armenian TV air, but not because she had just returned from Fort Boyard like the other “stars”, who were telling excited how good everything was there and how good it is that they were taken to “Fort” or “Boyard”, or “Fort Boyard”. Unlike the daily or new-year stars, Zaruhi Postanjyan “fascinated’ the Armenian TV air due to her apply to the Turkish and Azerbaijani delegations for amendments to the PACE resolution regarding Armenia. This event aroused the patriotic feelings of the TV air, and Zaruhi Postanjyan, though civilly or with hints, but was being castigated as much as possible. The only thing left was to declare Postanjyan an enemy of the nation and the question on the ban against her return to Armenia to be brought up. After all, the Turkish and Azerbaijani delegations are not British diplomats, and taking signatures from them for an Armenian resolution is not like drinking a cup of tea. It is also worth mentioning that it not only did not occur to the Armenian TV channels to present different views on the step of the parliamentary member, but also they did not even try to find her to ask especially for what amendments she had tried to take signatures from the Turkish and Azerbaijani delegates. A TV viewer, who is not well informed, might have the impression that Zaruhi Postanjyan wished to give the keys of Yerevan to the Turks and Azerbaijanis. While, the point is that the parliamentary member wanted to include in the PACE new resolution the question on releasing all the political prisoners and on re-forming the fact-finding group. Does anyone see any danger for our country in what the parliamentary member did? Is it more dangerous than the fact that the Armenian president awards his Georgian counterpart after all that is being done to the Armenian monuments in Georgia and to the Armenians from Javakhk? Or, is it more dangerous than the fact that the Armenian president announces about discussing the Armenian and Turkish historical questions or announces that during his meetings with Ilham Aliyev, he proposes to make investments in Nagorno-Karabakh and to try to keep it within Azerbaijan? No one knows the reason why the attention of the Armenian TV air does not focus on everything. Zaruhi Postanjyan, of course, made a naïve step. If the PACE needed to include these questions in the resolutions, at least the way Zaruhi Postanjyan would like it, it would do it without additional efforts and maybe the Secretary General of the PACE Terry Davis would collect signatures personally for those amendments. I am repeating, if the PACE needed it. However, the precedents should have been taken into account and the Turks and Azerbaijanis should not have to be mixed in this affair not to become the “star” of the Armenian TV air in vane, because it may already be defaming.
