OH ARMENIAN PEOPLE, ONLY INTERNECINE WARFARE WILL SAVE YOU

Although it caused distress that the Armenians of Georgia fought near the grave of the great Armenian lyric Vahan Teryan, this incident nevertheless reassures and comforts. After all, it is progress when in Armenia two groups do not fight over money, land or a fixed-route bus line but compete who will be faster to honor the classic. We have to admit that few other nations would take pride in the self-denying struggle for culture. But the balloon burst, burst at the moment of blowing, when the Republican party was drawing up the ticket and included the representatives of the two armies in the battle for Teryan, the co-chair of the Union of Armenians of Georgia Tachat Vardapetyan, and the chair of the Javakheti Union of Compatriots Shirak Torosyan, in the Republican ticket.
The Republicans highly appreciated the preparation of the sides and proposed to them to unite and fight for the ideas of Garegin Nejdeh instead of killing each other for the memory of Teryan. Besides, it is a shame when the natives of the same place fight with each other. What will the world think about the Armenians if they learn that the Armenians of Javakheti are fighting with one another? Is this the reason why the prosecutor general left aside everything and took up the establishment of clans of unions of compatriots? Compatriots must fight with compatriots. This is the clue to the unity of the nation, the creation of one nation and one culture from different fragments of the people who underwent genocide. It may seem strange to most people how can the “internecine warfare” involving the compatriots unions be helpful to the unification of the nation? The scheme is highly simple, and if the organizer Aghvan Hovsepyan has not explained it to the nation, the reason is that he was afraid of misunderstanding. In reality, however, everything is very clear. For instance, the people of Lori led by Vahram Baghdasaryan go to honor the memory of Teryan, the Armenians of Georgia explain to them that they do not have the right to because Lori is not mentioned in Teryan’s certificate of birth. There can be two ways. Vahram Baghdasaryan and his union of compatriots retreat without resistance, and announce loudly, by the way, which sounds as a warning, that Javakheti is not mentioned in Hovanes Tumanyan’s certificate of birth. But this way threatens the unification of the Armenians. In this case, everyone will honor their writer’s memory, and only a memory of the nation will remain.
Therefore, they boost up morale in compatriots unions, which supposes the second way, for the sake of unity. The Lori people do not accept the refusal of the Javakheti people and insist on honoring Teryan. Naturally, the Javakheti Armenians launch resistance on the spot. And the stronger the resistance is, the closer the national unity becomes because the Lori people pick up the gauntlet and two unions of compatriots start to fight. It is not important now who will win. The charm of this mechanism is the defeat of one of the sides. When the Armenians of Javakheti win, they honor Teryan’s memory and win the right to honor Tumanyan’s memory. When the people of Lori win, they honor Tumanyan’s memory and win the right to honor Teryan. Imagine now that in a short period in Armenia, while say our neighbors build Kars-Akhalkalaki with which we can compete with our unity, while it is being built, local interunion battles take place for culture, due to which one of the unions of compatriots gradually wins all the rights to nation liberation, history and culture, and the nation becomes unified. Say the people of Shirak fight with the people of Karabakh who want to win the prerogative of honoring Isahakyan besides Muratsan. After every battle the loser concedes its classic to the winner, and the Armenians start to unite little by little. It could even be organized like the Olympic Games. The semi-finals would be Aparan vs. Bolnis-Khachen, Artsakh vs. Sassun. The final will be held in Komitas Pantheon – the classic will not get bored, the policemen will not disturb, and in the end the tired winners will not have to go far to drink to unity.
