  Isn’t the improvement of the Armenian and Turkish relations and opening of the Armenian and Turkish border too cheap a price that the world pays us in return for Karabakh? And does Karabakh have a price. The former foreign minister Vardan Oskanyan often stated about it who said that Karabakh is invaluable. Now no such statements are made. Now the statements are more those of “initiation”. But as soon as we view the rather noticeable “result” of those initiatives, we realize that for Armenia, nevertheless, a “non-initiative” foreign policy was more favorable. In fact, if you do something which will make things worse, you had better do nothing. After all, no pronouncement is a dogma, and if sometimes one needs to do nothing not to be mistaken, it means nothing should be done. However, it is perhaps too late. Armenia seems to have done something, and maybe did something. It has invited Gul, then Armenia spoke sitting beside Babacan and Mammedyarov, then Gul spoke, then Lavrov spoke, and it is known that Lavrov knows something when he speaks, even more than we know. In other words, the foreign political “initiatives” have already caused considerable discourse. Now if we retreat, it will turn out that we had been forcing others to talk in vain. And they are not like us. They know the value of the word. Consequently, if they have spoken, they will not retreat. Moreover, they may demand a higher price for retreating than for speaking. But can there be a higher price for the initiative for Armenia than Karabakh? Certainly there can. The image of Mount Ararat. At least, it was enough to remove the image from the logo of the football federation and the uniform of the national team for the society or a major part of it to make such a noise that even Ararat was terrified by the thought that in Armenia they love it so much. Meanwhile, soon the world will announce that Armenia has agreed to return the liberated territories in return for uncertain discussions of an uncertain referendum, and the government of Armenia will not refute its willingness with at least a word, but the society is so silent as if any word it utters will be used against it. Consequently, since the highest price for the worldwide presentation of the foreign political initiative of Armenia was the image of Ararat which we are not ready to pay, it is logical that there is a decision to return the image, as it has been stated, and to pay a smaller price, Karabakh. If anyone thinks that the territories are not Karabakh, perhaps they do so in vain. Karabakh is the territories because as soon as they are not there, the existence of Stepanakert is a matter of time. It is another issue that the present elite of Armenia and Karabakh measure time with their biography, that is the longest duration of a human life, in this particular case, their life. But a society must have a broader unit of measurement, at least be more ambitious regarding the duration of life than any elite, especially a society which conducts such a flexible price policy and therefore knows the cost of life.
