ORANGE COMPANY MUST INVEST 200 MILLION EUROS IN TWO YEARS

The French Orange company which belongs to France Telecom won the tender for the license and radiofrequencies for the third mobile operator in Armenia. On October 7 the government commission made this decision. The company had made the biggest bid, 51.5 million euros. By the way, the proposals of the three companies which passed the prequalification stage were unveiled on October 6. The Swedish Tele-2 company bid 45.6 million euros, and Digicell CEO Blackrock Communications, an English and Irish consortium, bid 31.66 million euros. From today, that is the publication of the bid, the winner must register a local company within 10 days and be awarded the license by December 15. The Orange Company will be awarded a license for management and operation of the telecommunication network, as well as telecommunication services, including GSM, 3G, voice and data transfer. Besides, the company will be awarded the codes + 374 (0)55 and + 374 (0)95. Within two years from the moment of awarding the license the company must afford to invest 200 million euros, and the technology and quality of equipment must be approved by the government of Armenia, the press secretary of the ministry of transport and communication reports.
