THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS FOR SAMVEL NIKOYAN
“In fact, it was a dialogue with the society,” stated the secretary of the Republican faction Samvel Nikoyan during the parliamentary briefings on October 3, evaluating Serge Sargsyan’s address to the parliament and people. Samvel Nikoyan enumerated the points of the address which he considered as most important. The first, according to him, is that the war in Karabakh is not over. Samvel Nikoyan thinks it is highly important, and says the society should always be ready for war if it wants peace. Samvel Nikoyan said perhaps it is not right to think that the events in Ossetia taught a lesson to Azerbaijan. The second important thing, according to Samvel Nikoyan, is the statements about the goals, the new nuclear plant, the Iran-Armenia railway, the pan-Armenian bank. The third important thing, according to Nikoyan, is that the president said some people think they are superior to the law, get away with everything they do, which is unacceptable. The reporters asked him if March 1 was not important, and it was not worthwhile to mention it in the address which Serge Sargsyan failed to do. Samvel Nikoyan’s answer is strange, to put it mildly, considering that he is the chair of the ad hoc committee to study March 1. Samvel Nikoyan said there are a lot of important events in the life of our country which could be included in the address but Nikoyan thinks they will be included in the next addresses. Nikoyan thinks the issue of March 1 will probably be included in the upcoming addresses, especially that this is not a new issue, Nikoyan said.
