COULD THEY HAVE NOT BEEN THAT SATISFIED?

During the parliamentary briefings on October 3 the leader of the Orinats Yerkir faction Heghineh Bisharyan and Hovanes Margaryan commended Serge Sargsyan’s address to the parliament and people on October 2. Hovanes Margaryan first commended the address as establishment of a political tradition and afterwards mentioned the points which allow commending the address. First of all, Hovanes Margaryan said insult in the press to different figures is unacceptable. Then he noted among positive points that we do not choose neighbors, that is why we must set up friendly relations with them, not forgetting about the past. In this connection, Margaryan said that in the new geopolitical situation a new foreign policy is required from us, which Serge Sargsyan is doing in that sphere, attaining a change of approaches. Hovanes Margaryan who comes from Gyumri mentioned among the advantages of the address the statement about the area of the earthquake, the statement about enhancing the role of the Council of Security, the importance of the National Assembly, the construction of the Iran-Armenia railway, the new nuclear plant, the independence of the judicial system and struggle against corruption. The leader of the Orinats Yerkir faction Heghineh Bisharyan said in answer to the question of reporters whether the address fulfilled her expectations that the address cannot fulfill anything because it is a mere possibility to get acquainted with the wishes and actions of the president. Heghineh Bisharyan commended the address, noting that the president pledged more addresses which will probably cover more definite topics. According to Heghineh Bisharyan, the activities between addresses are important, and it would be preferable if the next address referred to what was done after the previous address. As to amnesty, Hovanes Margaryan said it is the power of the president, and he cannot say whether there will be amnesty or not. Only as a member of the ad hoc committee for March 1, as well as answering the question if it was not worthwhile to cover March 1 in the address, Hovanes Margaryan said the goal of the ad hoc committee is to reveal the events, and there is no need to hurry, and it is necessary to work thoroughly and study what happened.
