SERGE SARGSYAN IS BEING WHAT HE COMPLAINS OF
During the parliamentary briefings on October 3 Member of Parliament Anahit Bakshiyan, Heritage, was asked to comment on Serge Sargsyan’s address to the National Assembly and people on the eve. Anahit Bakshiyan said the address is commendable as a phenomenon stemming from the Constitution. However, the member of parliament said she had had expectations from the address which did not come true. Anahit Bakshiyan said she had expected certain topics, statements on definite actions, meanwhile it felt like listening to a “decree of kind wishes”. Some ideas, according to Anahit Bakshiyan, had been uttered long before Serge Sargsyan. For instance, according to Bakshiyan, the leader of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian had earlier raised the issue of unacceptability of “telephone justice”. Anahit Bakshiyan said it is commendable though that Serge Sargsyan mentioned that idea as well. Anahit Bakshiyan regrets to say that she had expected to hear about the recent revelations of the Audit Chamber, the taxes paid by the governor of Siunik, the oligarchs around the president but she did not hear anything. Nevertheless, Anahit Bakshiyan stated officially that the Heritage will not be an observer and will work with the president, support all his steps which will aim to bring into being the pledges made in the address. As to the expectation of amnesty, Anahit Bakshiyan says it was encouraging to hear about that possibility, especially that it was voiced by figures who are close to the president. But it did not come true, Anahit Bakshiyan says. She thinks it is amazing that the topic of March 1 was also bypassed. In this connection, Anahit Bakshiyan reminded that Serge Sargsyan complained that the society is discrete. She says the peaceful demonstrators on March 1 were also part of the whole, and when Serge Sargsyan bypasses March 1, he actually bypasses that part of our whole, being discrete himself.
