ARMENIA BECOMES A CENTER OF COMMUNICATIONS

The Regnum news agency reports referring to a source of “transport circles” that Turkey may reject the construction of the railway Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi. The Turkish side explains this intention by the recent events in the South Caucasus. At the same time, if the ready railway Kars-Gyumri is operated, the construction of the new railway becomes economically inexpedient. Apparently the upcoming visit of the Russian foreign minister Lavrov to Russia will not bypass this issue in the context of other problems. Russian Railways which has taken up the management of Armenian Railways for 30 years has stated to repair the railway section of Gyumri. At the same time, it becomes possible that the pipeline project Nabucco which aroused Russia’s dissatisfaction which is supposed to transport gas from Asia to Europe via Turkey will pass via Armenia by agreement between the West and Russia.
