“ONLY WEAPON WILL SAVE ARMENIANS”

Under the sounds of this popular song the members of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun “greeted” Abdullah Gul in front of the presidential office. It was worthwhile to see the faces of the people who reminded about the past glory of the ancient national party. In the front row were the leaders of this party, Hrant Margaryan and Vahan Hovanisyan, who were not singing but looked confused. What was the cause of their confusion? Were they confused because of Gul’s arrival? Or had they realized what they were eventually involved in? Most probably, the second. And the chronology of the arrival of the president of Turkey is evidence to it. When the possibility of Gul’s visit was announced, Dashnaktsutyun stated that they will go on protest, and in private talks they said Gul would not arrive, and they would rid of that bugbear. And the bugbear was the demonstrations of protest which would bring about new trials for the ARF Dashnaktsutyun which stopped being a political party a long time ago. However, when it was already certain that Gul was coming, everything changed. In this connection, the Armenian National Congress stated to stop demonstrations of protest for ten days. The statement of the Congress clearly stated that provocations against Turkish citizens who may arrive in Armenia were possible, for which later the opposition could be accused of. This statement was unexpected but at the same time sobering for the ARF Dashnaktsutyun. They realized that a possible provocation was being prepared through them; at the same time it became clear that after the statement of the Congress provocations against them were not ruled out. Fortunately, there were people in the ARF Dashnaktsutyun ranks who realized in time and stated through Armen Rustamyan about that, preventing possible incidents. For its part, they also realized that it is wrong to hold protest rallies out of one’s own principles, as Hrair Karapetyan said, principles which do not interest anyone due to the behavior of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun in the recent years, and the protest needed to be justified by the interests, security of the state of Armenia. Maybe this was the reason of confusion of Comrade Hrant and Comrade Vahan. God be with them, after all these figures should know that everything has its price. And the painful thing for all of us was those people, those honest, devoted, staunch people, and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, the national party of the Armenians.
