IS SERGE SARGSYAN SACRIFICING IMMUNITY OF ARMENIANS?

With regard to the internal and external political developments Member of Parliament Artsvik Minasyan, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, hosted at the Friday Club on August 28, gave the example of Georgia where the society came together around President Sahakashvili in the time of war. The member of parliament said at this time of regional instability the behavior of the Georgians should be a model for the Armenians to come together around their president to tackle external challenges. In this context, the reporter of Lragir.am asked Artsvik Minasyan whether considering this judgment about coming together around the president the ARF Dashnaktsutyun will cancel its anti-Turk actions planned for September 6, during the football match Armenia vs. Turkey, considering that for our president this match has the opposite importance, to favor the improvement of our relations with Turkey, especially that in the current period of instability and tension the Armenian and Turkish relation seems to be acquiring a vital importance in terms of communication with the world. It turns out that even if the ARF Dashnaktsutyun is likely to come together around the president, it is reluctant at this moment of the Armenian and Turkish relation. At least this is what follows from Artsvik Minasyan’s answer, who said that the ARF Dashnaktsutyun will hold the actions, and it is not only the problem of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun but also the immunity of the Armenian people. According to Artsvik Minasyan, there is no doubt that the improvement of the Armenian and Turkish relations is an important issue, for which it is necessary to favor transformation of perceptions of the Turkish society but the ARF Dashnaktsutyun thinks it is not right to sacrifice the immunity of the Armenian people just for the sake of good relations. Artsvik Minasyan says they should demonstrate to the Turkish government that the people who live in Armenia have a sense of dignity.
