UNITED LABOR PARTY THINKS MONEY CAN BUY VOTES OF INDIFFERENT VOTERS

The leader of the United Labor Party Gurgen Arsenyan announced October 17 at the Pastark Club that there will not be a significant redistribution after the election in 2007, meanwhile the campaign has aleady started, “A process of a tacit campaign is underway.” The United Labor Party would like the election campaign start after the New Year and Christmas. However, the ULP says there is not a political conflict, a clash of ideas, serious public speculations in the processes that are typical of the pre-election period, in public activity, “The society is not interested in an ideological clash.” Gurgen Arsenyan did not tell who is supposed to explain to the public that the ideological clash is favorable for the society.
Afterwards, answering a news reporter, Gurgen Arsenyan stated that by saying there will be no redistribution he did not mean separate political parties but worldviews and ideas. According to him, the parliament of 2007 will differ from the National Assembly of 2003 since it will have only 41 MPs elected under the majority system, in other words, less by 15. Meanwhile, with regard to the system of values, the United Labor Party, the Republican Party or the Bargavach Hayastan (Prosperous Armenia) Party do not differ essentially, stated Gurgen Arsenyan. It became known that while other political parties distribute flour or take people to parties in the country, the ULP uses other methods to win over people. The method was not specified, but it was announced that the ULP wants to be majority, and in this political party they think money can buy the votes of indifferent voters. “Meanwhile, over half will vote for the political force they prefer,” Gurgen Arsenyan believes. The ULP is for modifying the law to comply with the reality, however, he says the specialists should deal with the question of defining the difference between charity and election bribe. He thinks that in the National Assembly of 2007 the opposition-government correlation will be closer to 45/86.
The analyses of the ULP show that there will be no post-election aftershock. Even if the elections are falsified? In answer to this question Gurgen Arsenyan briefed the news reporters on how compliant elections guarantee the promotion of democracy in Armenia and development of European integration, “to restore the institution of trust of the government for the government.”
The leader of the ULP stated that the candidate will win in the presidential election whom the ULP will support. Or will you support the candidate who will win? asked the news reporters. Gurgen Arsenyan declined to say, however, who the “defendant” of the ULP will be.
