ARMENIANS NEED SERIOUS FIGURES
- All the liberated territories are our homeland and are not subject to bargain, once again stated Armen Yeghyan, member of the Civil Initiative Defense of Liberated Territories September 28. DLT includes participants of the war and their supporters, several hundred people, was established in 2001, “when they started talking about compromise. Meanwhile, the value of these territories is so great they cannot be replaced with anything.”
According to Armen Yeghyan, the problem of Karabakh is not an Armenian-Azerbaijani problem. “This is a problem of Armenians. If we get hold of our homeland, we will have no problems. Azerbaijan cannot be a serious external danger. Azerbaijanis do not have the feeling of homeland for Baku, let alone Karabakh. Karabakh is a pasture for them,” announced Armen Yeghyan. The speaker thinks if our leadership used to hint at compromise, now they speak about it openly. “The land taken, liberated by weapon and blood cannot be returned by an agreement. These territories are Armenian, this is our homeland. Anyone who thinks about returning land is a betrayor,” state the members of DLT.
The members of DLT propose considering liberation of Nakhidjevan, “We missed that chance in 1992.” “This may sound fantastic. It is because the country is undergoing a moral crisis, there is a false and ill atmosphere in the country,” states Armen Yeghyan who says the reason is that “there is nobody in the ruling elite who serves the country. And the type of people who serve their country were isolated, divided, ruined.” The civil initiative of defense of liberated territories also proposes a way out: the Armenians should become organized, therefore, according to Armen Yeghyan, we do not need much, “we only need serious and patriotic people”.
