ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT’S “SMALL RUSE”
The president of the PACE Luis Maria de Puig visiting Yerevan has already met with the prime minister of Armenia, the Armenian delegation to the PACE and the representatives of the glorious coalition. In those meetings these branches of the Armenian government unanimously accused the PACE president and the European organizations of using double standard. In particular, they meant the provision of the recent PACE resolution on Azerbaijan according to which the Karabakh issue hinders democratization in Azerbaijan, and its solution should be based on the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Apparently, this is a perfect excuse for the Armenian government’s failure to implement the PACE resolutions. And when the PACE president speaks about a transparent and fair investigation of the events of March 1, the necessity to eliminate constraints on democracy, our government, in the winged expression of Levon Zurabyan, uses “small ruse”, on the one hand pointing to the resolution on Azerbaijan, on the other hand citing some data, showing that it meets the demands of the resolutions on Armenia, slowly but consistently. Certainly, one should not expect more with the current quality and level. Certainly, it is painful that the government of Armenia does not realize or does not want to realize that any international initiative is in a direct correlation to the quality of the home situation in Armenia, and in the result of their activities such resolutions are born, it is also painful that the more or less literate representatives of the government, Tigran Sargsyan, Davit Harutiunyan have to yield to that “small ruse”. And it is far more painful that along with this decline of the quality of government Armenia will suffer irreparable losses, already not in the form of a resolution on Azerbaijan but more concrete.
